Problem Identified : How to find a Gravity source
Action Taken and Present Situation
· The SO usually implemented overhead projects and wells, tube wells. For the scheme GODAR the wells and tube wells worked only for 5-6 months, PM advised the SO to find a source in the hill to make gravity scheme
· The SO for months tried to find a source , inquired in the village, made investigations but was not able to find a source.
· One night the SO person dreamed that one good source has been found.
· Next morning he thought over it and went to the person who took the cattle heard in the jungle for grazing.
· The cattle were kept a whole day without water and sent in the Jungle the next day.
· The cattle went inside the Jungle and searched a pond of spring and drank water.
· The SO person who was following the cattle identified the source at last and it was proposed for the scheme. The same source is proposed for the scheme.
CASE No. 2
Scheme Name : Hariharpur, Batch : III Phase : Pre Development SO : NRCS-Dhanusha PM : Ramesh Kumar Sharma
Problem :Arrangement of the sum to pay for O&M and Capital contribution. Action Taken and Present Situation
· The community consisted of very low economic group peoples like Musahar & Dom, though they had serious need for water they aere not confident to raise tentatively the sum NRS 600 to 700 per HHs. They were not able to visualize any option how they could manage such problem.
· An elderly disablled women of the community at the mass meeting gave them the Idea that if they will bring a 3 chicken and raise it in nine months they can sell it and pay for the capital contribution as they will get RS 600-700 for it.
· Another suggestion given by her was that if in every day meal they will reduce 'one handful of rice from the total rice needed for the family they will save RS 2. That is RS 4 will be saved each day, 120 a month and RS 1080 will be saved in nine months (DP Period) to pay for the capital contribution.
· Most important of all She commented at last, you need a courage to perform a thing. I am disabled and have no money in my home but I have the courage that I will manage it within nine months, because the scheme will not only help me but all my future generation and it is important. You being a Man are not able to attempt courage or know that the luck is on your way and needs your knock ? If the opportunity will pass you will have your head only to hit in the blank wall. SOs staff are reported to have been mobilized properly. And these staffs are agreed not to be considered for next batch.
· Intakes are all corrected with good quality of work.
· The mass of 250 t0 300 people immediately decided that they accept the terms and are ready to contribute the needed cash amount within nine months.
