Objectives:
The immediate objective of the Centre is to make people aware about self realization, hygiene and sanitation, environment; to raise the literacy status; advocate in issues of welfare of society, help and protect helpless children, women and disabled; increase the income level of farmers through skill generation, technology transfer and the initiation of cash crops; to generate employment and services through training, etc. The center seeks to achieve these objectives by uniting people in a forum that helps build their confidence to combat the deprivation in a sustainable way. To fulfil these objectives, as stated in the SSDSC-Nepal's constitution, the following programmes and activities have been proposed:
Social Mobilisation
To be relentlessly active for the promotion of educational, soio-economic, socio- cultural and socio-technical aspects of the society. To mobilize people through generation of collective feelings, enhancing skills and forming capital for the economic, social and cultural progress of the society and to achieve true sence control and system thru capacity building and community empowerment.
Awareness Generation/ Advocacy
Child and Women Focused Activities:
To be active in building capacity of the communities to forward moral and ethical leadership in main system, for universal welfare and universal peace, harmony and happiness. To be active in the protection and conservation of peoples right on environmental, sanitation, water quality, Water resource management and ecological. To advocate and launch special programmes for the preservation of rights and to improve the status of children, women and underprivileged and undeserved castes/ethnic groups. To launch awareness raising programmes to stop child labour and child exploitation. To be active in the rehabilitation of helpless women and children. To be active in the abolishment of social malpractices such as girl trafficking, prostitution, Deuki, Jari System, etc.
NFE, Environment and Health and Sanitation:
To launch Non-Formal Education (NFE) programme for the people deprived of formal and non-formal education. To sensitise people regarding environmental issues and to launch massively the forest preservation and aforestation programmes. To make people aware of soil conservation, landslides and natural disasters and to mobilise volunteers for relief work. To emphasise on the dissemination and application of preventive health measures through generation of awareness. To provide safe and clean drinking water in the villages, launch drinking water schemes, campaigning about construction on about the latrines.
Income Generation:
To encourage the use for collective saving to generat the capital necessary for productive enterprises. To uplift hte farmers' economic status by launching programmes such as increased crop productivity, kitchen gardening and cash croping. Provide training to farmers to promote the farming from subsistence to commercial one. To share the originaland sustianable farming methods.
